About Us

Crimson Ventures, LLC is a Management Consulting and Private Investment company with 25+ years of experiences assisting companies at key inflection points such as hyper-growth, capital raising, M&A transactions, business exit, turn-around and more. We are led by Rob Walker, our founder and managing partner.

Our Perspective

We feel that the majority of organizations are not properly equipped to address the ‘once in a business’ events like raising venture capital, hiring a successor, working with commercial banks, responding to new market paradigms (disruptive technologies, increased competition, etc.) and would benefit from experienced, outside resources and points-of-view.

History

Crimson Ventures, LLC is a management consulting and advisory firm. With predecessor companies, Crimson’s history dates back to 1993–giving the organization almost 25 years of broad-based experiences across multiple industries and with companies of varying stages of development.

Crimson Ventures was founded by Robert W. (“Rob”) Walker, Jr. who serves as its Managing Partner.

The derivation of the Crimson name comes from several key influences in Mr. Walker’s life and business career.  These include Samford University (newspaper is The Crimson), Harvard University, championship college football (Roll Tide) and a recognition of those that shed blood for our freedom and eternal life (Isaiah 1:18, I Peter 1:18-19, Elvina Hall’s 1865 song Jesus Paid It All, and the U.S. Military and supporting organzations).

Executive Biography

Overview

Mr. Walker has over 25 years of professional experience with an emphasis on corporate finance, strategic planning and operations. He has been directly responsible for the formation and growth in several early-stage ventures and for operational improvement in several later stage businesses. Several of his accomplishments include:

  • Participating in the execution of over 30 transactions representing over $6 billion in financing and advisory assignments
  • Raising over $32 million in venture capital for his or his clients’ companies
  • Integrating 14 healthcare technology companies creating $40 million in savings
  • Executing over 50 consulting engagements focused on acquisitions, interim management, strategic planning, corporate finance and raising capital
  • Growing a financial services finder for 9 people to 40 and increase enterprise value by 11x before successful exit
  • Leading operations team managing 600 personnel and $120 million budget
  • MBA, Harvard Business School; BS in Business Administration, Samford University (Summa Cum Laude)

Education

Mr. Walker possesses a MBA from Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration and a B.S. in Business Administration from Samford University where he graduated summa cum laude with dual concentrations in Finance and Economics. He has additional studies at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and the Harvard University School of Public Health.

Other

Having grown up outside of Birmingham, AL and having lived in Boston, New York and Dallas, Mr. Walker is now pleased to have called Nashville, TN home for the majority of the time since 1996.  He and his wife, Joy, have three teenaged children. (In addition, they have 21 nieces and nephews.)  In his free time, Mr. Walker is active in numerous pursuits including youth sports where he has coached over 22 individual seasons between baseball, softball, tackle football, flag football, basketball and soccer. He is active in his church and several charities and organizations which includes Fellowship of Christian Athletes, A Soldiers Child, GraceWorks Ministries, C-12 Music City, SeaSTAR, Doulos Partners and more.

Thrivist is an early stage e-learning company offering software solutions to K-12 schools and disticts. Its solutions consist of learning management systems and data analytic tools.

Crimson Ventures invested in 2016 and Rob Walker served as CFO and Board Member until its sale to Ingram Content Group in 2017.

Sovereign Sportsman Solutions (S3) is a government services contracting firm offering online solutions primarily to state governments.

Crimson Ventures began investing in 2009 and Rob Walker serves as the Company’s EVP and is a co-founder.

Compass EMP Funds (aka Compass Advisory Group) is an asset management company offering mutual funds and ETFs.

Crimson Ventures has an equity interest. Rob Walker served as President from 2009-2016 until its sale to Victory Capital Management.
